A precious consolation

It is precious in the sight of the Lord, the death of those who love him. Psalm 116.15

This statement is a source of encouragement to all who put their trust in Jesus Christ. Knowing that we are so valuable to Heavenly Father is very comforting. We are assured that the Lord has truly prepared a place for us in his Eternal Kingdom.

We can be revolted at the thought of death, for it was not wanted by the Creator when he gave life to Adam and Eve. God had created them as free and responsible beings. He knew that sin would rob them of his fellowship and eternal life. Yet, all things considered, as terrible as death may seem to us, it at least has the utility of ending human suffering. But only the Christian can be at peace on this matter, having the certainty of being, at his death, in the presence of his Savior. What certainty ! What consolation !

The writer Albert Camus did not hide his dismay at the thought of death : "Here is my old anguish, there in the hollow of my body, like a bad wound that every movement irritates. I know his name. She is afraid of eternal loneliness, afraid that there will be no answer." What a terrible confession !

Reader, if you think like him, know that if you accept Christ as Savior, to be forgiven and cleansed of your sins, you will no longer have to be afraid of death.
