    How to overcome loneliness

“God says : It is not good for the man to be alone.” Genesis 2.18

Someone wrote : “I feel very alone and it makes me desperate. How come I don't have more friends ? It seems that all women and men on the planet already have their quota of friends, except me ! Certainly I can occupy, thanks to my work, every hour of my days, but that does not abolish my feeling of loneliness." According to some statistics, 90% of men say they don't have a single friend. Mother Teresa said : “Loneliness is a modern form of leprosy, and no one wants to admit they have leprosy !” At the beginning of Genesis we read several times that “God saw that it was good”. Until He created Adam ! He then said : “It is not good for the man to be alone.” Even before the fall, when Adam enjoyed a perfect relationship with his creator, since he had no human companion by his side, God said that was not good ! Within us there is a void that only God can fill. But the Bible also affirms that “we are all members of one another” (Ephesians 4:25). There is also a void within us that God will not fill and that can only be filled by the company of other humans. Neither money, nor material goods, nor social success can fill it. “Let each of you, instead of considering his own interests, consider those of others” (Philippians 2:4). Overcoming loneliness requires service to others, seeking out the needs of others, and being willing to engage in this cause. Approach those who need help and respond to their suffering. You will be happy with the results in your own life.
