The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not welcomed it. This light was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every human being. John 1.5, 9

Jesus spoke to them again. He says : I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but on the contrary will have the light of life. John 8. 12

Light, really !

How to explain the appearance of atoms in an empty universe ? How to understand this wonderful phenomenon that is life ? How to master all the details of the fabulous mechanics of a human body ? Our reason stumbles in the face of these mysteries. And how to admit the existence of evil, which everyone condemns... and that everyone does more or less ? How to understand that the human being is permanently torn between the best and the worst, capable of both ? Our lights do not go far enough to allow us to see clearly.

Certainly, our reason is an extraordinary faculty that God has given us... so that we make good use of it. Now, we use it to try to do without God. What nonsense ! Instead of freeing us, our so-called lights have enslaved us. They allowed undeniable social progress, but by giving the human being the place which belongs to God. And if man thinks he is God, even what he does best is tainted by his selfishness, his pride, his intrinsic wickedness, his contradictions. The result is that this progress does not prevent an ever more impressive number of wars, incredible family situations, a loneliness as great as the means of communication supposed to fill it... We walk on the head ! We pretend to be wise, but have gone mad... (Romans 1:22).

All hope is not lost, however. Jesus presents himself as the light of the world. He waits for each to come to him with faith, to enlighten his heart and his reason, and give him eternal life... Each !
