They were ascending to heaven, they were descending into the abyss, they were in anguish at danger... all their skill was brought to naught... In their distress they cried out to the Lord, and he delivered them from their anguish. Psalm 107. 26-28

    Mr Nothing

The Italian evangelist Dapozzo (1905-1974) works on a boat, in dangerous conditions. Before beginning his day, he surrenders to the protection of his God with his companions. But this morning, a young man approaches, sneering :

    - Who speaks of God ? There is no God !

He then opens his shirt wide, discovering a single word tattooed on his chest : "NOTHING".

A little surprised, Dapozzo replies :

    - You lie ! In this heart that you show me, and where you think you affirm that there is nothing, there is first the love of your mother, secondly the fear of death, thirdly the knowledge of good and evil. These three things are in your heart, whether you like it or not. But the other responds :

    - It's not true, I fear neither God nor death !

    Dapozzo concludes :

    - You have been here for a short time... We will soon have the opportunity to realize if you do not fear death !

The next day, barely had they started the maneuver that Mr "Nothing" fell into the water. Dapozzo sees him from above struggling, shouting. He can't swim. Dapozzo dives and, after much effort, manages to bring him back to shore. He's alive... Dapozzo says to him point-blank : Aren't you afraid of death ? Yes, he replies angrily. But you, what do you have in your heart ?

    - Jesus Christ! is the immediate answer.

Reading the Bible, this young man with an empty heart is converted, Jesus Christ now lives in this heart.
