    Overcome your chess (3)

"Go where the water is deep and cast your nets for fishing." Luke 5. 4

When God calls us to do a task, how do we react ? Some of us simply ignore his call, pretending it is none of our business. Others sigh : “when I am done doing what I am doing now, I will do my best to obey You” and still others ask some pertinent questions, like : “will this task be-she difficult ?” or “how much will it cost me ?” Still others, like Samuel or Peter, are content to say : “Here I am, Lord...” Peter did not argue with Jesus claiming to be too tired, asserting that he was a more experienced fisherman than Jesus - “a son as a carpenter, what did he know about fishing in Galilee ?” He obeyed and walked out to the high seas. For what purpose did Jesus tell him to go fishing in deeper water ? To allow him to catch bigger fish. The latter do not approach near the shore. If you are afraid to venture into deep water, you will have to settle for small fry. On the other hand, if you want to benefit from the best of what God wants to offer you, taking risks is necessary. Peter did not listen to his fatigue or his fears. He was ready to go where Jesus invited him to go. Remember, he was the only one of the disciples who ever walked on water ! Most believers do like the disciples : they stay in the boat, preferably not too far from the shore so as not to face too many storms. Only then, God wants us to live by faith and faith involves risks. God's plans for your life are blessed with great blessings. He nevertheless asks you to cooperate with them and to assume them fully, with the risks and difficulties that they contain. Getting past your past failures requires getting back into your boat and moving into deep water, with Jesus at the helm.
