Preparing to meet God

Paris, March 14, 2020 in the evening. To counter the worrying spread of the coronavirus, the government has just announced the closure from midnight, and until further notice, of all places open to the public, which are not essential to the life of the country. Hundreds of young people pile into the bars, unaware of the danger, they want to take advantage of this last evening of freedom.

"Let's drink since we're all going to die !" even launches a reveler under the bursts of laughter of his band. Terrible echo of a saying from the Bible, which the apostle Paul attributes to those who live only for the present : "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die" (1 Corinthians 15. 32). Isn't that the motto of so many men over the centuries ? Already in the time of Noah, "men ate, drank... and the flood came". Later, in Lot's time, "men ate and drank"... and Sodom was destroyed by fire (See Luke 17:26-29). Recklessness, the whirlwind of pleasures, cannot hide the inevitable deadline placed before each human being : death, then face-to-face with God (1st verse of the day).

How can you best prepare for this meeting ?

Fortunately, God has planned everything : his Son Jesus Christ came into this world. He died on a cross, and "carried our sins in his body on the tree himself" (1 Peter 2. 24). He who looks in faith towards Jesus is then freed from his guilt before God. He awaits with peace and certainty that moment when he will meet his Savior and Lord to share with him eternal happiness (2nd verse of the day) - Is this your case ?
