When God does not provide for your expectation...

“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

If we trust Him, God will supply all of our needs. He promised it. But sometimes He does it in a way that is not what we expected. His thoughts are not ours, His ways are different from ours (Isaiah 55. 9). John Piper once said : "God is constantly leading ten thousand projects in your life, but you may recognize two or three !" Even the disciples who lived close to Jesus every day missed many of the lessons He wanted to teach them. Let us humbly accept that we are often taken aback by divine provisions. When the Israelites left Egypt, God made a commitment to provide them with food and drink, which was no small feat when a whole people found themselves in the middle of an inhospitable wilderness. Yet Nehemiah affirms : “But You, in Your immense compassion You did not abandon them in the desert... You did not deprive them of Your manna and You continued to provide them with water to quench their thirst. For 40 years You have provided for their needs in the wilderness, without their wanting anything ; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell” (Nehemiah 9. 19-21). He can do the same for each of us. David was also aware of this : "I was young, I grew old, and I never saw the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging for their bread" (Psalm 37:25). Despite all of this, the Israelites kept complaining. They wanted God to provide them with what they wanted. Let's avoid this trap. On the contrary, when He does not provide according to our expectations, let us express our gratitude to Him, always (1 Thessalonians 5:18). And let us remember that “all blessings and all perfect gifts come from above; they descend from the Father of lights, in whom there is neither change nor the shadow of a variation” (James 1:17) !
