Why is it so easy to doubt ?

    "Increase our faith." Luke 17.5

Why is it so easy to doubt ?

1- Because those who doubt around us are legion ! Count among your friends those who truly encourage your faith ! You won't find many. So many people focus their attention on obstacles and difficulties, throwing wide open the door to doubt.

2- Doubt too easily satisfies our desire for self-protection. Nobody likes to admit that they made a mistake, that they failed, that they got hurt and that they suffer from it. So our unconscious whispers to us : “Instead of blindly trusting God, don’t set your hopes too high, so you won’t be too disappointed with the result.” But we are disappointed in the end ! Why, then ? Because we let doubt undermine us !

3- Because doubt is a passive feeling. You don't wake up one morning thinking : "Today I'm going to doubt the influence of God in my life." Doubt invades the emptiness of the mind. He enters us when we let ourselves go and do not act according to divine directives. Listen : “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). If you don't hold your nose to the Word of God, you will be constantly plagued with doubts.

4- Because doubt is contagious. It is a virus much easier to catch than the flu or the Covid ! The lyrics convey it with infinite ease. Solomon wrote : “If you are ensnared by your own words…” (Proverbs 6:2), for he knew that words can strengthen wavering faith as well as destroy established faith. Compare these lyrics :

1- “So what can I do ?” and “With God’s help I can manage !”

2- “What a terrible and painful experience !” and “There is an important lesson to learn here !”

3- “I see no light at the end of my tunnel.” and “Nothing is too hard for my God !” Your own words determine the spiritual climate of your life. So go from doubt to faith by eliminating all non-biblical words from your mouth !
