Flouted love

I will consume the whole country with the fire of my flouted love. Zephaniah 3.8

It could be one of the newspaper headlines sold on newsstands, with a photo of a star, followed by an article telling her heart story.

Reading the news brought by Zephaniah, the "mailman" of God, one wonders : What happened in the love affair between God and these men ? How did they get there ? From the first sentences, we feel that God, the Eternal, has entered into a great anger. He talks about it and will repeat it several times later. He gives the reason : among the people he chose and loved, some turned away from him and turned to idols. This situation set fire to the powder. With our words, it looks like the Eternal wants to blow it all up !

Remember your emotions (or those of a loved one) when you hear the news : the love of your life has left for someone else. Haven't you been overcome by all kinds of emotions ? Weren't you also very angry ?

You now understand what the Lord means, how his love has been flouted. Perhaps you will also hear his call, if you have turned away from him (Zephaniah 2.1-3) ? It speaks of love in everyone's heart. He wants to transform, purify, save and renew everyone in their love for him. You too can be a subject of joy for God.
