The real light

Current Western society is oriented towards the progressive rejection of any reference to Christianity, and of the idea of ​​a creator God. His desire to free himself from everything that seems to limit his freedom is obvious. Progress and improvement in everyday life are there for a certain number of people. However, the contribution of human ingenuity and its unrestrained search for freedom generate anxiety, trouble and insecurity. The outlook for the future is darkening.

The Bible, the Word of God, like a beacon in the storm, is a luminous, powerful landmark that does not change. It brings everything to light, at the same time as it brings its warmth to the empty heart of man without God. She tells us speaking of men : "Their heart without understanding was plunged into darkness. Boasting to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 1. 21, 22).

At the same time, it proclaims that God loves us. Jesus Christ, manifestation of divine light on earth, did not come to condemn man in rebellion against God, but to save him. “I am the light of the world,” he says. "This light was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens everyone" (John 1.9).

Do we accept that this divine light illuminates our heart and allows us to know God's love and forgiveness ? Only Jesus can give us new life and a reason to live. “To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God” (John 1:12).
